Odd little e-mail exchange (re: singer wanted)

Sign in to disble this ad
This just happened today. It amused me, so I thought I'd post.

For the record, our band had been looking for a singer...we have someone auditioning for a second time tomorrow afternoon. I had posted on several message boards that we had been looking for a vocalist.

E-mail I got today:
E-mail me a list of your covers please.I'm in the Tomah area but will travel for a serious band that enjoys playing and having fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I've been a front man for 21 years and I've been told I STILL HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm originally from MILW and moved about 6 years ago, Been looking since the move. not much talent up here.
Thanks,
Singer Guy

FWIW, Tomah is more than TWO HOURS from my city, where we practice. So this guy is talking about driving four hours round trip to rehearse with a cover band!

I replied:
Hi Singer Guy. Thanks for the e-mail. Unfortunately, we've found a singer for the time being. Good luck with finding a band. I've heard it can be tough to find people to jam with in northern parts of the state, for whatever reason.

Thanks,
Invader

His response:
k

That's it! A single, one letter reply in an e-mail. No "Thanks for letting me know", or anything. What was the point of e-mailing me back if that's all he felt like typing? I just couldn't help but laugh at this.

travel

our guitarist lives in kent and we rehearse in leicester thats about two and a half hours each way. But playing with him is a true privilege so im glad he does, he is a simply amazing guitarist who brings out the best in me as a bass player, and playing without him as i did for the last seven years felt like playing with one arm. We work so well together that he feels the drive is worth it and im glad he does! ( i cant drive!)

Sounds like he's treating email like an IM/chat message.

I hate it when people do that.

long distance doesn't really matter
i remember my first musical contribution was vocals for a North Carolina based group
even though i'm in PA
it wasn't a performing band though, just techno for in clubs and ****. but the point is, distance shouldn't matter

He is in Tomah.....not much action up there....he HAS to travel to find a decent band!

I used to commute to a "job" 2+ hours each way.....drove me nuts!

on top of a 12-14 hour day, that was WAY too much.....that is one reason I had to give up bass playing for several years.....now I can play and love it!

good luck finding a "good" singer.....
