+1 on the Animal, that skit with Buddy Rich is awesome.

Why do you worry about scratching your bass up? I find that it adds character.

Chips and all that are part of the character of an instrument.

Mind you, I love taking excellent care of my Cirrus (and every other bass I've owned), but I've never felt bad about the inevitable chip/scratch, slight wear, etc.

I just don't buy really nice stuff. In the past, if my MIM P-bass or EDB-500 got nicked, I really didn't care. Fortunately they had any significant damage. Now that I'm playing an LTD with a natural finish (vs the super thick paint on the P or the friggin plastic EDB), I'm a little more paranoid.

But I still try to move around as much as possible. I'm just not going to hit anything with my bass.

I go nuts on stage. I jump as high as i can. Sometimes i will let go of the bass and do a single Van halen kick and touch my toes.

Its just too fun. Ive whacked into my guitarist many times. No singer to whack, were instrumental. Ive put my foot on the drums.

My bass is a junky Ibanez 5-string. Im buying a Ibanez sr506 for christmas. Im gonna jump around with that thing also. If it scratches, oh well.

My guitarist has only one guitar, so i bring mine to shows also as a backup. My guitar is a 1976 Custom Shop Fender Strat. Its got the Love and Mojo on it.

I dont care if he uses it. He thrashes around to. We have used it once live and we collided. Im not too worried. its all mojo man. Adds to the beauty
