Question One Awesome Inch

Sign in to disble this ad
How would that go over as a band name?

The drummer from my current band (I'm starting a side project) thinks it might be construed as unprofessional.

Here are some others I like:

Velvet Angel
After April
Bloom
Velvet Bloom
Skyline
Lux
Trailerpark Casanovas
Suite 16
Vaxxine
Geezer

Please don't include the word 'velvet' in your band name.

Out of the ones listed, Geezer is the cleverest and most appropriate for what you play.

Bandnames should never take themselves too seriously, IMO. If you try too hard, you end up with similarities to other band names anyway. (maybe that's just me?)

I think One Awesome Inch sounds great, and since every word's in the dictionary... What's not professional about that?

Isn't it already a bandname though?

Well ****.

I know a lot of folks get successful using funky names, but I'd much rather see a band with a clever OR relatively mundane name as opposed to one that's trying too hard to be 'cool'. Those names always fail.

The thing is I bet alot of those names are already in use. I mean I cant be the first one to think of "Skyline".

It's super easy to find out. Just Google "skyline band" and "skyline music" (obviously put in any band name idea instead of skyline). Guaranteed you will quickly find out if anybody is using that name.

"One Awesome Inch" is fine, "Geezer" is better for your sound, "The Poopsicles" is unprofessional

Oh, and I'm betting anyone seeing "Awesome Inch" will assume you are playing tunes from "Hedwig and the Angry Inch".

the copyright / trademark office is a better search. it's one thing to see if someone else is using, it's better to know if you have the legal right to it.

Angry Inch is the first thing I thought of, too. Otherwise, I would really like it.

In your list, Vaxxine would be great if you do mostly Hair Metal covers. Geezer is also good, except for the Geezer Butler reference. Still, probably acceptable IMO.

Awesome Inch sounds like you're covering Hedwig.

Geezer sounds like you intend to do nothing but Black Sabbath songs.
