Opened up for a National Act

only got to do 8 songs...but the crowd ATE it up.

and half of them left after we were finished...a bunch came to see us!!! We definitely had a better reaction than they did.

I felt bad for the national act -

Lillian Axe.

Not that I'd ever heard of them, but some claim they had. *shrugs*

metalish band from the 80's.

Still it was odd.

Goes to prove one thing - people like to hear music they already know more than music they don't.

I'm not knocking you but I'm not sure I'd call Lillian Axe a "National Act", at least not any more. Back in the hair metal days of the late 80's, Lillian Axe had a minor hit on their hands with radio and MTV play, but the road had run out for that style of music by the time they started gaining national traction and everything fell apart.

Stevie Blaze (I feel like I'm going to be in the name drop thread now) is the founder and lead guitarist of Lillian Axe and he's from Clinton, MS. One hell of a nice guy too. I used to know him as we played and hung out at the same clubs many years ago. I guess that makes both of us long in the tooth now.

I actually hadn't even thought of Lillian Axe in years. I was surprised to hear they're still around. I went to their site and the music they play now is definitely not the 80's metal I remember them doing. It wasn't bad if you like that type of music.

Hope you had fun. It's always cool to play with guys who are (or seem to be) higher up the rung.

Blaze is currently playing in a D.C. based band, also an 80's hair band called " ANGEL", with Randy Gregg.
