Question Original music scene in Atlanta vs Durham?

I want to start a band and am curious about the scene in these two areas. Does anyone have any input/advice they can offer? Thanks.

I was completely unimpressed with the music scene in the RDU area when I lived there ~6 years ago. I gave up trying to find compatible musicians very fast. YMMV.

From what I've observed Raleigh/Durham has a pretty hip original music scene. Don't quit your day job for it though.

Check out the Cave in Chapel Hill; it's a pretty neat divey kind of place. I'm sure there are a few other interesting places there too, but I was only visiting so my observations are pretty sketchy.

I don't know anything about the Raleigh scene, and, to some degree, it may depend on the type of music, but I can tell you a lot of deals hit my desk that involve companies and people from Georgia, in general, and Atlanta, in particular.

Best,
MA
