Yes, it is. But strangely, I find there's more of an emotional release when I'm recording my own stuff. It's sort of backwards, but it works for me.

I just got home from a gig as a hired gun. Even those kind of gigs are emotional to me. Playing in front of others is just rocks! It is the ultimate way of connecting w/ other people.

Performing is more of an "expression" thing to me.
But yea, I'd recording would be an emotional release.

Yup. It's really fun and enjoyable for that very reason. Just playing in general, but it's always better with an audience.

When it comes to recording something if it is something that me or my band wrote it is emotional, but session recording are not too emotional to me at the time I play in them(it might be afterwards when I hear what I played and liked it or when I hear it and dislike it -using this as something to improve my future performances)

Hell yeah. I probably would have had a more violent set of teenage years had I not played bass. Bass has always been an outlet for my rage and anger, and even my hurt. Bass is therapy!

This is a great thread. I want to see more of it.
I picked up a bass and studied music as a personal challenge. Self expression has been difficult for me, so I was hoping it would be an outlet of some sort. So far I don't get it.
There hasn't been an opportunity in a band. I record to stuff for practice, get critiqued, call it good. It's cool, but that's about all.
I'm missing out on something!

Music in general is a release. I find the biggest release in creating, so anything along those lines - Improvising, recording, writing especially.

Yes - but it depends on the quality of the gig.
Is there a crowd? Did we musically communicate, v.s. phoning in the playing?

grammar commissar here.

that's an improper use of a semi-colon; you should've used a colon, not to mention a forgotten preposition.

it's a release unless it's cold in the room.
