Playing on T.V

Hey guys, in about two weeks my band is going to be playing on TV for the first time. We have been preparing a lot for it and practicing a bunch. I was wondering if any of you guys have tips about preparation and performance for this type of a thing because we are a little bit unsure of what to expect.

For information about our situation, the show we will be playing on is a local "lifestyle" program called Mass Appeal https://www.facebook.com/MyMassAppeal

And as far as I know we will be playing one song and doing interviews.

Thanks in advance.

I have only done a TV gig once, back in the 70s in NYC.

If your band has it together, you will be fine.

From what I remember it was a lot of fun.

once the cameras are positioned and dialed-in,...

DO NOT WALK IN FRONT OF THEM!!!

i got yelled at.

ps: and don't stare at the monitor while performing.

Will it be broadcast live or taped and broadcast later? A taping is a lot less stressful because you can often just do another take. But either way, just know your stuff and pretend the cameras aren't there (unless you gaze dreamily into one to connect with teh audience...)

Don't let the camera sneak up on you for a face shot and then forget the words. It can happen. Otherwise, no worries, just be yourselves and play like you always do. Don't pick your nose, and stuff like that, of course. I ain't hard. I've done it a few times.

Biggest thing - be on time (read: early) and willing to follow directions. Know in advance if possible who you're supposed to be communicating with for info/directinos.

Other than that, be loose, have fun, and play your butt off!
