We've had the page for a while, but are still getting used to everything you can do with it. We have a regular website that most everything comes through but I can definitely see where this could help in marketing and getting your name out there.
I'll "like" everybody elses out there. . . Last Call | Facebook
our website is Last Call : Home

I haven't looked at them all yet, but I've "liked" a few of you guys that I've seen. It seems sensible to me to have vids and/or tunes on your FB page and I'm surprised there's a lot that don't - maybe these bands just haven't had the recording opportunities yet?
Anyway, here's my second effort that I just set up yesterday for our big 22 piece soul/funk/disco band, including a video and a couple of tracks. I hope you "like" it!
Please post some sort of comment if you visit. As soon as it picks up enough traffic I can change the URL.

Please post some sort of comment if you visit. As soon as it picks up enough traffic I can change the URL. | Not being funny, just trying to be helpful - some of you guys need to think about promotion a bit harder. There's tons of bands out there, as evidenced by the number of posts just here in this thread in this little corner of the internet. If you want net traffic, you need to make yourselves stand out, somehow.
But there's a lot of posts in this thread that just say "Here's our FB page" and that's about it, really. Why would someone click that out of the 200 or so in here? People are more likely to click through if you take a couple of minutes to say something about your band, make some sort of comment on your FB usage, provide a properly formatted link... you get the idea?
Please don't take this as a personal dig, I'm just suggesting something to make you think about how to get people to notice your band.

Here's a hyperlink to your page to save people copying and pasting, as everyone reading this ought to check it out: SAID THE WHALE

Please don't take this as a personal dig, I'm just suggesting something to make you think about how to get people to notice your band. | I personally don't feel like this thread is a competitive "gain fans" type of venue. we're all musicians, this is just a small community page where hopefully people are willing to check out and support not just one poster but a few. I personally checked out about 20 pages, regardless of what their TB post included.
Net Traffic and success in social media as a musical act aren't going to come from posting on community musician forums, one way or another.
edit: i do see your point, though. 8-)
double edit: thanks for the comment

But I still think that even when doing the small stuff like this, it's worth taking a minute or two of trouble over it. Kind of like "establishing useful habits".
Loving your page, as I said. The iLike links are very eye-catching!
