Post clips of your 3 piece band

Sign in to disble this ad
Every once in a while the topic of a 3 piece comes up and opinions vary on how well cover songs can be pulled off particularly when playing material that was originally done by bands with 4 or more members.

So post your links to audio/video clips of your 3 piece band and please include commentary about how you did the treatment of various parts. We can all learn from each other about what works and what doesn't.

The band Quagmire covering Who'll Stop the Rain by CCR
July 4th, 2008. Drummer singing lead vox, guitar harmony vox
Crappy amateur video.
We arranged it with an added solo between the 2nd and 3rd verse.

Is this for clips of any trio songs including originals or just covers?

I would love to contribute but I can't upload live clips. Here is a couple of tunes melted together. Not so hot camera audio.

This myspace has several clips of my live-band karaoke trio with walk-up crooners, as well as a few with the male singer we use for booking standard (non-karaoke) gigs: http://www.myspace.com/retrospectivecollective

This myspace is my power trio + singer who throws in occasional blues harp:http://www.myspace.com/bluesfarm

I'm not saying these are genius or anything; but they offer some answer to the recent question "can a three-piece do covers?"

Your guitarist sounds like ours. Tons of notes filling up the space for the leads and rhythm.

That is a really cool way to play Time. You totally changed the groove on that song and made it all funky. Really makes that song work as a three piece.

Kind of tough to hear with the bad audio but I have to say that was a nice performance on bass. Good, old fashioned jazz trio lineup.

Legacy, a classic rock trio.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjhsH0oqpNM

Cocaine is not great, the acoustics suck, and the person who filmed is in a bad spot.

Go halfway and listen to working man, it kicks ass, and you will hear the 8 dollar mod to a jazz bass that makes it sound like a ric.

Here's a little classic rock trio I play weekends with sometimes.
I appologize for the crappy video camera sound.

Yeah, the quality is pretty bad in my video, but with headphones notes can be heard.

This is my band Oblivion. We are a three piece and sort of take the Nirvana approach. The music is sort of old, and they were just demos, but if you scroll down the live videos are a bit more happening.
