Rehearsal via skype

I'm going to be out of town for nine days starting Friday, but I'll have my acoustic guitar with me. My band is in the process of rehearsing for a show that we're playing on the 20th in which we'll be doing acoustic versions of a lot of our songs, most of which are new arrangements. We've been rehearsing almost nightly for the last week or two, but a week off of rehearsal is less than optimal. I was wondering if anyone's had any success rehearsing over Skype or a similar service, as I'll have a computer available to me and there are high speed internet connections available on both ends.

The slightest bit of latency will make it impossible, well... rough at best.

Yeah, but -

And it freezes at the most inopportune times....

Isn't there some software around that enables playing together over the 'web? I seem to recall a conversation somewhere that a few bands do this, but I can't remember the name of it.

Just record the whole band playing through the new arrangements during rehearsal (a Zoom or somesuch will do).

If you all practice to those rehearsal recordings, you'll be sharp and good-to-go when you return from your travels.

A workaround solution, if they don't need to get cues from you, is to turn off your mic, and just play to what you hear them doing. Between songs of course you can turn your mic back on to discuss, figure out the next song, etc...
