| i'd venture to guess that like half the rockabilly bands out there are largely cover bands (not in the usual professional entertainer "cover band" sense, but in the sense that they are just playing assorted artist's tunes in their own style within the confines of the rockabilly genre)... i love a good rockabilly band with a good sound... i want to learn to play upright bass effectively and start my own... or i suppose i could just get better on guitar, because i can get totally get a good sound, i just don't have the chops for solos and anything more than simple leads and fills. or maybe i could just play my Hellcat VI as a baritone guitar and find a decent upright player and guitarist and drummer.... or i could get my Rivoli fixed and try to get an upright-ish sound from it... bleh, i don't know
where are you located anyway? i've found that rockabilly scenes can be both simultaneously awfully cliquish and very supportive... two extremes of the spectrum, depending on the individual people you come across within the scene
