I played on that stage for 8 weeks, back in the 80s, with my country band. The park was doing a "State Fair" theme, and 4 bands were hired from the local scene. We were each hired separately, we had to join the union local, and we had to shave and cut our hair. The guitarist shaved a beard of 19 years to take the gig! But the money was awesome, we played in the daytime so we could still gig at night, and we made a connection with the guy who booked the entertainment for all of Disney. We wound up going to FL to play Disney World several times.
Yeah, I miss that Disney money.
PS Watch out for the Fun Police, those guys with clipboards (or do they have laptops now?) standing in the back. They are watching you!

If you cuss or do anything they don't approve of, they WILL report it, and you WILL hear about it later! They run a tight ship.

It was fun but they wouldn't let us do any sound checks. 16 bars into the first song, I had a slap solo. But, thanks to no sound checks, I had no high end on the amp at all. So it sounded like crap. It was still a lot of fun. |

But "rockin' at Disneyland"? Isn't that an oxymoron?

I just can't shake the image of Dark Vadar coming up from the bottom and taking your guys out with his light saber. Killer gig though. Congrats. We have season passes. Unfortunately we weren't able to make those dates. |
