Solo gigs

Sign in to disble this ad
My band isn't gigging yet, and I'm the bass / keyboard player. I've been playing piano for 9 years, and I've been doing solo performance at recitals and monthly accompaniment and solo performances at my church the whole time. I also have a fair amount of experience with vocals, trumpet, and I perform on the organ on a monthly basis. My question is based on the fact that since my band isn't gigging yet, and I could use a bit of extra money come summer, what's a good place/ way to get solo gigs on either piano or for singing, without going to clubs?

The reason for not going to clubs: I wouldn't be allowed to anyway by my parents, and I still live with them. I'm aware of wedding gigs, so I'd also like to know what are good solo performance pieces for that type of thing, whether piano, organ, vocal, or a combination of the above.

Edit: I'm 17.5 years old.

If you have an amp and a small PA you could always steal the acoustic guitarist gig...local coffe houses, cafes etc...anywhere that wants softed live music.

Look for restaurants that book soloists and duos.
