Something I Find Funny

Sign in to disble this ad
So I got a call the other day from the singer in my old band who's now in a different band with our old guitarist. It was a funny conversation and made me realize that (as of right now) i'm glad i'm not in a band anymore. The guitarist had a monster ego in our band, he thought he was the best thing ever and didn't need to contribute and on and on and on. Well, now in his new band his rock star attitude is back and they're firing him after a show they have coming up. What I find funniest about the whole thing, besides his attitude and him not contributing at all, is that at their last show some of their merchandise came up missing along with over half of the money they had made from selling the merch. That exact same thing happend in our band and i'd bet any amount of money that he stole it.

My old singer was pretty adamant about getting that guitarist fired, but for some reason after our band split he decided to be in a different band with him. Now he, and the other guys in that band, all regret ever getting mixed up with him. Everybody that knows this guy, including me, all told them to stay as far away as possible from him because he's a terrible influence, he doesn't do anything to help the band, and he has a terrible attitude. If only they had listened. Just thought that was humerous and thought i'd share it.

..I'm not saying there aren't any crook bassists or drummers out there, but why does it seem like most of the major personality disorders in the world of music tend towards the "treble" end of the sonic spectrum?

i'd guess because those types of personalities also tend to want to be in the spotlight, and be noticed.

Not really patting myself on the back, just laughing that everybody knew he had ego problems but thought they could change him. The only thing it does is make me happy that i'm currently not in a band and that I don't have to deal with that drama. I do miss playing live and the whole band thing, but i've just had terrible luck with band mates that want everything but don't want to work for it. Like I told the guys in my last band, "marriage can't be this hard." Imagine one nagging wife (or husband) and then add 3 more and each one is nagging about something completely different. Makes you want to hang yourself in a dark corner after you had beat yourself in the head repeatedly with a concrete duck.

You CAN have the best of both worlds; be in a band AND not have to deal with that drama.

I doubt a lot of bassists are going to log on here and make threads about "listen to how insane I am" or "check out the ridiculous thing I did that makes no sense." Add to that the fact that we, as bass players, don't tend to play with other bass players and thus aren't exposed to other crazy bass players as often as we are to guitarists.

I guess you missed the one by the guy who lit his own hand on fire, on purpose.
