Song List Recommendations

I'm currently between bands and I'm working on learning tons of new songs so that I can add them to my repetoire. My goal is to join a working cover band that plays a mix of pop/rock/dance etc. and by knowing more songs in advance, auditions should be a breeze.

I probably have about 150 - 200 songs in my repetoire now, but most of them are classic and hard rock tunes. I just learned about 40 new tunes over the last three weeks for a sub gig I did over the weekend.

What I'm looking for are suggestions for some of THE MOST POPULAR songs that are considered "standards" for this genre. So who can help???

Thanks!

I do this too... one way I look for songs is to look at various, cover or whatever, band websites and copy their song list and then go through it and use green, yellow and red highlighting (on my computer!) to identify songs that I know cold, that I'm familiar with or have begun working on, and red for songs that I have no clue about. I then use this list to build my song repertoire... my goal is to break 600... that sounds like a lot, but there are a ton of songs and there's nothing like being able to walk in and play. I haven't counted in a while but I think I'm at around 300+...

Have fun!

That's a pretty good idea...I like the color coding scheme.

Song List

Learn the money tunes. Current airplay and classic rock.
This is what sells. You can't anticipate every tune that
you'll need to know but I usually listen to pop & rock radio
and learn tunes even before I get called to play em.

I sub with a band that plays EVERYTHING. Elvis to Hip Hop.
Although it's a challenge to keep up it keeps my ears open
to whats new on the radio.
