I used to put it on the floor, then felt i could hear better up on something, but found it's projection was poor, so now i'm back to on the floor...

i'd reckon floor cos if it's putting out bass it can vibrate through the floor better.

Usually I put it on the floor, but there are a couple of stages I play on that require the use of an isolation pad, so I use an Auralex Gramma. As for raising the cab higher (for better monitoring onstage, etc.), I haven't found the need.

see, i also used to think that at one point, but is more bass better? most shows I play we have PA support... I think more bass just add boominess to the sound, no?

I agree with this statement. I like to let our FOH guy have control of the bass volume. he always does a good job. Resonence can be a big problem with bass rigs.....especially on those hollow plywood stages you get to play on in clubs. As long as I can hear myself I don't worry about FOH....that's someone else's job.

I usually have the amp on the floor. If I find that the sound is getting too boomy then I'll put the amp on desk or something. I prefer it on the floor because then I can stand on it when I feel like it, or sit down on it at rehearsal.

I try to play off the floor with PA support so I don't play so loud...

I'd raise it with an iso pad. Gives a cleaner sound to the room.

+1 to the Auralex Gramma! I've noticed that it focuses the sound nicely.

When I use my 4x10, if there is a riser with enough room, I'll put it up there. Otherwise, the floor. Too danged heavy to put up on anything that isn't *real* sturdy.

With my smaller Fender, I put it up on something. *Unless* I'm in a small bar with lots of wood, and a wood floor. I like how it sounds, sitting on a wood floor in a little ol' pier-and-beam frame building.

On the floor but on casters, I used to take the casters off and put it directly on the floor but i double on upright and it got too boomy really fast.
