The sub should get the money you have gotten.

Not sure what your asking but you should tell your sub what they'll be getting paid. Most subs will accept the regular split. Some ask for something on top (for the hassle of learning tunes on the fly, travel, etc.). I've had both experiences. Secondly, you need to introduce this person to the band and have them get to know each other.

Consider letting the other bassist sit in on a gig before the one he'll be subbing on.

Good suggestions .....

In addition to having a firm understanding about the coin, get the cat a set list so he has an idea what you guys are doing. And be sure to talk to your band mates about the sub ... too many times the band is assuming that the sub will play exactly like you do, when in fact that's rarely the situation.

You should also be up front with the sub if there are some band issues, for example, the drummer rushes his fills, the guitarist doesn't always tune up properly, the set list can change at the drop of a hat, etc .... It'll make the evening easier for all that are involved, and it will make any future sub requirements easier for your band mates to swallow ....

like most any business agreement

What is expected of who and for what compensation. for about 5 or so years I subbed alot. Sometimes to fill in in for a sick person, somebody quit, fill until they they found the right guy, etc.

Basic question wher, when, start and stop times. breaks- how many, how long, song list, whos gear (my own was always with me-neve know), sound and style, is the sub expected to do load ins and outs/

Best of Luck,
Wesley R.
