Forget the band name...you guys sound like Blink 182. I'd be more ashamed over that.

Word. Once you've heard one Blink song, you've heard them all...

On topic, I was once in a band called DBH. It stood for "Double Barrel Hangover". Just completely ridiculous. Needless to say, I did ONE show with them, and then moved out of the state. They lured me in under the guise that they were playing doom... turned out to not be anywhere near doom, and I hated it. Just an all around bad experience. I gave them my practice PA setup just so that I would never have to go back.

Speaking of doom, I have driven exceptional distances to play with multiple groups who said they were playing black metal or doom. It's straight-up southern rock, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Annoying!

2) Megadeth. Yup. Dumbest name ever, and even though they are kind of a "second tier" band, they still have gold and platnum albums under Mustains belt. Dumb names, like Star Wars for example, can be accepted as "good" the content is good. Its just getting people to buy the advertizing and check it out.

I hope this helps in some way.
I can think of quite a few names worse than Megadeth. It's a real term with 1 vowel removed and there is nothing second rate about them! You can call their discography sketchy but they have so much good material and their live show has improved a lot with Ellefson back and Mustaine recovered from surgery.

I brought it up at practice tonight and we all agreed we should change the name.

Now wait for it.

We are now Panic Picnic, in my opinion a huge improvement.

Well, that name is exceptionally fitting for your genre. Good on you.

Personally, I liked Godica better, but honestly a name's just a name.

Anyone remember Green Apple Quickstep? I thought the name was dumb but it didn't keep me from buying the album.

Huge improvement? Uh...

Try something like this random band name generator: http://www.bandnamemaker.com/

Enter a word or two that you guys like and keep hitting refresh until something you all like pops up.

1. Butts By Trade
2. Butts Raid
3. Butts Distance
4. Checkered Butts
5. Butts Duty
6. Intestinal Butts
7. Butts Of Loco
8. Butts Government
9. Praying Butts
10. Grouchy Butts

Holy hell, Grouchy Butts is my new band name. Gonna call the lads right now and break the news to them. Their dismay at being called at 3:00am will more than fit the new direction we're taking....Butt Rock.

LOL, so true.

Sometimes I think bands should keep the crappy names they choose for themselves to make it easier for the rest of us. It's Darwinian. If your band isn't creative enough to at least come up with a good band name, you shouldn't be playing in the first place, kind of thing.

Panic Picnic is SLIGHTLY better, just in terms of the sound of it, but it also sounds like you just tried to come up with something that sounds goofy or weird without having any meaning to it. And seeing there is a game called Picnic Panic makes it worse. Maybe you could just call yourselves Birds Angry.

Had no idea there was a game. Panic Picnic is a name weve had for a long time.

My buddy who invited me to the band has severe anxiety and lets just say the first time i saw it in action was at a canada day picnic/fireworks show and what insued was... Interesting...

This.

The Police is a terrible band name, it didn't hurt them any. I think the damage of changing the name after two years of successful gigging, facebook page, and other promotions would never be worth it no matter how cool the new name you came up with was. Just suck it up and make the music as cool as possible.

Friends of mine have a band called "Jeebus". Not kidding. They're having their first CD release party/gig this coming Saturday, too, CD is called "Threads". A name is just a name.
