This fall a drummer and I are forming a cover band trio. Haven't picked our guitarist yet. We're gonna play cover band standards (imo) like Brown Eyed Girl, 8675309, I want you to want me... play poprock and modern rock pre-Nickelback/Disturbed era like STP, Third Eyed Blind, Foo Fighters... some oldies and classic rock.. Beatles, Hendrix, Billy Joel.. some top 40 and whatever else.. Standard kind cover band.
I've seen plenty of threads over the couple years I've been here on how to play in a trio...
...my question for you gentleman (and ladies).. is what songs do you really like to play in that format whether they were meant for it or not.
The band I'm in now learned You May Be Right - Billy Joel and I think its quite fun. Bass and drums just really lock the hell in and the guitar does his own thing around.. pretty close to recording but with some adjustments.. Bass doubles the guitar lick with open a. I like the song and also how we sound on it |
