Tunes for St. Patty's Day?

Sign in to disble this ad
Got a call to play a pub on St. Patrick's day. Would like to do an easy tune that would work for the day.

Any suggestions for a rock type tune that would work? What do other cover bands play? Are you playing that night? What are you playing for St. Patty's?

P.S. They're not expecting an Irish band, they know what we play.

Irish Tunes

Irish Rover will work and can be done rock style. Another popular one is Whiskey in the Jar which has been covered by Thin Lizzy and Metallica. Any Irishman worth a damn will know both of those so they will go over well.

Correction - Wild Rover not the Irish Rover but the latter would work well to.

I've really grown to like the Young Dubliners - they did a rocked up album of Irish traditionals that I thought was awesome. Follow Me Up to Carlow, I'll Tell Me Ma or Paddy's Green Shamrock Shores are cool tunes...

This. But you better go f'ing nuts if you do play it. It's an easy song to play so you better break your face or something

I'm a huge Flogging Molly fan, in fact I'm going to see them again next week. I wish we could do some of their tunes but we're only a three piece. In FM the fiddle and tin whistle are such a big part of their tunes. I've been thinking of learning tin whistle to play devil's dance floor.

I did find a cool version of Wild Rover that the Pogues did.

It's St. Paddy's Day.

Paddy is short for Patrick.

Patty is short for Patricia.
