Hi,
I wonder how many of you have done TV gigs and what your experience has been. I did a short show on FOX recently and was very pleasantly surprised by the sound engineering and general quality of the production. Would love to hear any comments. http://www.myfoxboston.com/myfox/pag...Y&pageId=7.3.1
Thanks

Sounded real good to me! You guys, and gal, have a handle
on that 60's type of vibe for sure. I thought both songs were
very well written. Sara's voice is really a good fit for your type
of music.
Your bass looked really nice on camera, the colors were very
warm. Did you give it an extra shine knowing you'd be under
the bright lights?
I hope you continue to get the press, you've got a good thing
going for sure.
Good luck!

Sometimes you get a good mix and sometimes you don't. It usually has something to do with how often live music is presented on the specific show.
One thing for certain is I am always amazed to find out that so many people watch TV at weird times of the day and night. Lots of many I know end up telling me thay saw me when I was on at 8:00 AM on a Saturday morning. |

My euro spector stayed at home that day! thanks very much for your comments! the weird thing is what do you expect from tv studio engineers? very pleasant surprise to get a nice bass sound i thought!

It was for a show hosted by David 'Kid' Jensen in the 1980s!! The idea being that he had up and coming bands live in the studio!
So we had a whole day in the TV studios - in the morning we got on the stage and played the tunes while they recorded the music - it was a bit strange as to start with - the place was empty, but gradually TV people started to wander in, drawn to the music and it was nice they were actually interested to hear.
Then we mixed what had been recorded - added overdubs etc. Later in the afternoon we did interviews, then a "live" performance where we mimed to the tracks we had created in the morning - which was great fun - no pressure
(They had to do this apparently as they coudn't record the sound and have an audience in the studio. )
All in all it was one of the most "fun" days I ever had in music and at the end we were all presented with cheques for appearance fees - what could be better!!??

Pretty quiet stage volume overall, but I've watched many bands perform there, and it usually sounds great over the air, so they know what they're doing. It's actually kinda weird being in the newsroom, though. The anchors read magazines or newspapers between their segments.

Matt | Nope. Got as far as radio (WHRB) when I was in the Boston area.
Pretty decent engineering. Can clearly hear your P. Good bass work! Great singer. Keep us updated!

Great band, great singer, great songs and great bass playing!
Nice job! |

Nice job! | The stage sound was a bit tricky. There was feedback at first so we turned down a bit. I couldn't hear everyone as well as I'd like. Final mix is much better for sure.
Yeah I was surprised by the random people who saw it at 8 AM and recognized me.
Nice story Bruce. I don't think I've done a gig that called for miming! |

But the sound operation there was truly impressive, 140 odd channels almost all used. http://www.cbs13.com/video/?id=17614@kovr.dayport.com
