Upcoming gig for my two bands!!!!

Any TB'ers in the neighborhood of rural South Arkansas may be interested...a real live rock and roll show to be held November 10th, 2007 at Union Street Station in Magnolia, Arkansas.

For years, there have been monthly country and gospel shows at this venue, but no rock and roll anywhere in town. Recently I talked the owner into letting me promote a "classic rock" show as an alternative to the same old musical fare. He decided to go along, so it is actually going to happen. (I know, sounds a lot like "Footloose", but what can I say?)

Three bands, all local, all unknown. The first is Second Hand Smoke. The second is Big In Japan. The 'headliner' is Blues Dog Willie. I play bass in the second two bands.

If there is a single reason to make it out for these shows, it is to see the young lead player for BIJ and BDW. Simply put, he is the best amateur I have seen in thirty years. Very laid back, but with a maturity that belies his youth, only 18 years old. My biggest problem playing with this guy is that he will blast off into something I have never imagined, and I will just forget what I am doing and stop playing to watch and listen to him.

If the gig goes well, the venue owner has promised at least one rock show each quarter. Going well means drawing at least 100 people. (This is a very small town.) We've been promoting it, so I'm hoping we'll get some response.

As I said, any TB'ers in the area are specially invited, and I would love for you to make yourself known to me. I'll be the big guy trying to look like Duck Dunn.

Hope to see you there.
