Uuuuber Nervous

I have a talent show comming up pretty soon, and I have an audition tomorrow, I'm exited/nervous, and I don't know how to get rid of that nervousness, It's been a while since I've played infront of people ( 3 years) and I'm wanting sometips so I can (hopefully) go on stage and not be a nervous wreck!

thanks!

I've heard that eating a banana or two helps to get rid of shaking hands. Sounds like BS to me, so I haven't bothered trying it.
As for the excitement and nervousness, it's a part of it all Personally I like that weird feeling I get before a big gig, just before I'm going on stage.

Stay focused on the job. Know your parts cold - a good deal of nervousness could be from your own doubts about your part. Instead of driving yourself crazy, pick up the bass and practice what you are going to play until you can do it without thinking.

Make sure you have your equipment all ready to go. Nothing adds chaos like a last minute technical problem.

Get to the gig early - running late will only make you more nervous (although it might distract you from your shaking hands).

Above all, don't worry - you are doing this for fun and expect a good time. If you are ready to play, you can go out there with confidence that once you hit that first note, you'll be just fine.

Bananas are high in potassium, which plays an essential role in controlling muscle contractions and nerve impulses. For this reason, eating a banana or two can actually steady your hands a bit. They are also delicious.

Drink lots of water and do some stretches. Then start freaking out again.

Sorry. Drinking lots of water and doing stretches really has helped me a lot.

"Its just music . . nobody dies" is what I was once told by a local vocalist who has been around for a long time. Go out, have a good time, play your parts. Remember half the folks can't play and think what you are doing looks like magic and the other half that do play aren't up there doing it. Nothing better than playing music on a stage. Well, almost.
