Question Virtual Rockstar, need advice!

Hi all,

I've been asked to send in a recording to a local competition called Virtual Rockstar . I would like to know what your advice would be as to what style of recording i should send in.

I am not an amazing bass player, but I wouldn't consider myself a beginner either. So please no advice that includes me suddenly turning into a bass god ...

How would you all go about it? How should i go about it? These are the questions i would like answered as much as possible.

I have a year of studying theory under my belt so writing my own solo piece is optional. Maybe someone here could recomend me some other solo piece i could cover, or a song with a bassline that would show off my "skills".

Here is a link with information about the competition!

Thank you all in advance,
Tom.
