hey guys, I put a vocal demo up on our page, it's just a cover of Bring me to life by Evanesence done to a backing tack and mixed in Audacity. It's actually about 2 yrs old, She was just learning the song at the time and we ran it through a real cheap $10 mic directly into the pc soundcard but it didnt come out too bad.

what ya think?

I'll give the vocals a 7.5..a little pitchy in some spots, but overall..not too bad.

Its not completely terrible, but her voice isn't powerful enough at the times it needs to be and she has very bad pitch problems.

yeh she was just learning that song when we did that, I think she may have ran thought it once before we recorded it and you can pretty much tell where she hit the spots she didnt learn yet. I'm going to have to record it again soon. thanks for the critique.

yep, I know I listen to it now and I'm like "Baby, we have to redo that song, it pretty much falls apart after the first verse" Maybe I'll hook her up with audacity this week and redo it. Thats what I get for recording a song she didnt know.

I'll get to it put it up sometime this week, maybe a few others too.

That's not an easy song to sing. Lots of pitch changes and the original was song with a very powerful and dynamic female voice. I will definitely cut her some slack for that, it was a solid attempt. I bet she could nail it with practice.

My only constructive criticism is what Dingman said- he voice sounds a little weak, like there is not enough oomph from the diaphragm. My guess it that the pitch changes will be corrected when she learns the song better.

I'll see if I can get a few songs recorded this week. I pulled the demo for now, she has a very powerful voice but that old file doesnt really represent her voice that well.

I agree that that is a difficult song for anyone to sing. If the singer keeps working on it, I am sure she can make it sound smooth. It just takes practice and working on the song so much you get sick of it. I listened to it yesterday but just now have had a chance to comment.
