I put together a scratch band to play a party gig (pretty well paid) at very short notice. The punter wants us to play "Macarena".
The more I listen to this rubbish, the more I'm thinking "No way - I'll play an mp3 through the PA and they can like it or lump it."
Maybe I'm getting old, but my capacity for playing stuff like that has reduced drastically recently. I can get gigs where I don't need to play stuff that depresses me as much as this vile nonsense. I'll let others do that for some good money, and good luck to them too.

Normally, I'd say suck it up, quit being a poophead and just play the dang song. But no way; the Macarena is taking it a little too far.
+1, begrudgingly play the mp3 and go get you a beer.

| | | | I thought the Macarena has long been pushed out of society's collective conscious and locked away in the pop culture pandora's box, never to be opened again. Why would anyone in their right mind request that song?

| There are a lot of songs I wouldnt want to play but still would for the right price. Then there are a few, like the Mac, that I wouldnt touch for a million dollars. Ok, I lied, everything has its price, but some people just can't afford what they want.

Espcially if it wasn't a metal gig.
