Its crazy and off the wall. But we didnt want a run of the mill name for a all girl band. We were sitting around when I meant to say "that is fabulous" instead it came out "That is Fadoodleous". We thougth that sound funny. None of could stop laughing and then the singer suggested that we name the band that. So we did. By the way none of us were drinking when we came up with this name. I said it because I was distracted when I tried to say Fabulous. Does Fadoodleous sound strange? BTW, its pronounced
Fa-doodle-ous.

| | | | fah-diddle-us is my band name! just kidding. How about you try having either a non-stereotypical or non-feminine name for a female band? just a name that people can know you by. think of weather report, KoRn, black sabbath, arch enemy, opeth, otep, etc. they do not have names that describe their band or their genre, they do not refer to their gender or religion, or their sexuality, they are just names. seriously after all kittie, the donnas, etc. it gets a bit ridiculous, and anyway what is so special about an all girl band? wow you dont have teh penor! so what? just think of it as a band, not an all girl band or a half girl half guy band, or a one girl two guys and a monkey on drums band, just think of it as a band and give it a reckognizable and un-predictable name.
edit - also, another good thing if you stick to a subject in your lyrics you should find something that slightly reveals that without giving away what you sound like. For example metallica are metal, but unless you know metal and know metallica you probably wouldnt guess that, and SLAYER ( Satan Laughs As You Eternally Rot ) sing a bit about religion and satan etc. but you wouldnt guess it unless you knew them, the acronym, or about them.

my 0.000000000000000000000002 rubles | Wow. You're all over the board, there, aren't you, SOA?
I say exploit the girl band thing for all it's worth. You'll immediately have an attraction for everyone. Sure, it's a gimmick, but so what? Gimmicks are just bait on the hook. Then all you gotta do is reel 'em in with great music and a better show.
Good luck!

what he was getting at (or my take on it) was that the all chick bands should let their music speak for them, not exploit the fact that they are women, while singing about how they are tired of women being exploited. so i don't really see how that was saying that chicks shouldn't be in bands.
edit: now on topic, it also doesn't really matter what any of us think, as long as you and your band is happy with it keep it. a name isn't much more than that, it's just a name. would you avoid someone just because they had a name you didn't like? i thought not. i honestly don't think it's that bad, it's different, and different is good IMO

After listening to their alternative suggestions - because they will all have one or hundreds, meet up again and decide how you feel about your fancy doodles. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
