I see a few posts about what kind of money a band makes, or what's to be expected for an individual on a nightly gig basis. But I'm curious if any of you have encountered a situation where a major band or artist takes you out on tour and suddenly you're in the position to name your own weekly retainer rate. For people who have dealt with retainers in major band/artist scenarios....what did you typically charge as a weekly retainer rate for a tour where you're playing every night of the week (1 1/2- to 2 hr shows)? did you have a separate rate for when you were not touring but the band/artist still wanted to keep you on retainer? if so, what was that?
i realize there's a big range of salaries out there...i'm just curious what the going rates are nowadays. |
