What am I to make of this?

I responded to a CL ad looking for a new bassist for a local punk band about a month ago. I jammed with the guys 3-4 times (minus the singer, he's getting married and just couldn't fit practice into his schedule). Drummer and guitarist seem to like me so it seems like i'm in the band. Singer got married today, and at his wedding the band wanted to go on stage and jam. However, the old bassist (that is supposedly out of the band) ends up taking my spot and I end up sitting out. I'm just wondering what should I make out of this? I know all the material so it's not like I couldn't play the songs they played; they know I can play. Am I heading for trouble if I stay with these guys? I know it wasn't even a serious gig and i'm not worked up about it, I just wonder if I should be cautious and expect drama in the future from these guys.

To me it sounds like a bunch of guys who were friends long before you came along who wanted to jam with their band buddy at his wedding. No biggie. Remember you are the new guy and will be so for a while.

if they put up a CL add, the old bassist is gone, wouldn't worry about it.

You're Jason Newsted

Don't sweat it. If it happens at an actual gig, do sweat it.
