What attire for hair metal?

Sign in to disble this ad
What would you suggest a hair metal band to dress like, nowadays?

Since the long hair is now gone, and for some of use the hair is gone, period, that's basically the one essential piece of attire that is not coming back.

In 2009, how would you expect a hair metal cover band to look like without being booed offstage as soon as they step in, and be taken seriously, while connecting to that time period?

No, I am not growing the hair back, it was cut when on my first day in the army (I still remember how hard the army barber was laughing) and is not coming back

Thanks, all!

I'd say spandex catsuits are still critical as well. If you're a little chunky, all the more ironic.

At least, I pray you're in a hair metal cover band that's at least a bit ironic and tongue-in-cheek. if not..... I am truly frightened.

Zebra stripe spandex pants under red spandex pants with large holes cut into them so the zebra shows through, fishnet shirt, and lots of guy liner.

Check youtube to bands who still are on the road.

What's supposed to be "tongue in cheek" is very unatractive if you don't have the correct "cheeks"

When I was on the road I weighed 165 (6'0") I was on the chunky side for some of the stuff.

Spandex UNDER ripped jeans was one of the more forgotten getups.

I thought most of the still-giging hair metal bands have adopted more of a pseudo gothy/glam look now. Stretchy pants and tight shirts, but with eyeliner/nail polish and more styalized hair...

Leotards and legwarmers. Think the chick from 'Flashdance' but in an '80's hairmetal dude kind of way. As many scarfs as you can wear. Sunken cheeks. Lip gloss, lip gloss, lip gloss. Some big pirate gold hoop earrings. And the confidence to wear any or all of that in public.

Leather pants, 5|-|17 stompin boots, denim jacket with the sleeves cut off, curly froofy wig.

And you're good to go.

Stuffing in the pants. Always stuff the pants, especially if you wear tight pants (wich you will do if you want to sing high enough). It is the cardinal rule of glam/hair metal.
