What kind of relationship(s) do you have with your bandmates?

I saw an earlier thread about hugging bandmates, and with those replies, a lot of people mentioned being best friends, etc. with their bandmates. So I started wondering how other people feel about their bandmates. For me, I'm extremely close friends with one of them. We were friends first (I sound like I'm talking about dating... lol) started the band and have a special bond. Sometimes we fight, and it gets emotional, but we always work it out and there's no b.s. The others - one I'm pretty close to but it's taken awhile. The other guy is kinda new and a little shy, so it's taking awhile to figure him out.

I live over an hour away from my nearest bandmate so we don't hang out too much when we're not gigging, but we usually have a group Christmas party and a Group summertime get together for us and our friends/families.

Read the threads about hugging, LOL. Also read threads about band rules enforcing morality which seems strange.

Different when you are on the road for months with a group. You learn to put up with stuff and when to shut up.

Doing casuals is more like a corporate networking opportunity than "drinks with a client" these days.

I'm in a three piece Blues band.....love the music.....could care less about the other band members. Total geeks.

See my thread about stage presence in this forum to get the details.

H'ver I have been in past bands where there has been intense musical bonds...kinda creepy, but what a connection when you're up there playing live - or even at a good rehersal...

I respect the two of the three other guys in my band, and like one of them okay, but for the most part, if we're not making music, I'm not hanging out.

Considered marriage?
My band consists of my main group of friends, so we're close enough

I work with the drummer and incomming GP.(day job) We hang out and are pretty close. Singer is cool but we dont see each other except at practice & gigs. #2 gp is 20 and full of energy, its great on stage and when goofing off at practice, but can be fustrating when getting serious about working stuff out. He is leaving in Nov. Outgoing gp has an ego problem. I have little interaction with him(even on stage). 1 more gig with him then he will no longer be an issue. for the most part we all get along well, always joking and having fun.

I play in a couple bands that I joined from Craigslist postings. I like them well enough, but I have a busy schedule w/ work, family, etc. So there is no hanging out. They are all fine people, but if we're not playing music, we don't see each other.

My bandmates, at least the original bandmates the drummer and guitarist, are some of my closest friends. I'm living with the guitarist next semester school.

Used to be a guitarist, drummer, and myself. The guitarist was a good friend from school, but he couldn't play anything aside from Iron Man and Looney Tunes themes. Didn't actually care about learning anything, so he had to go. Also whined, pouted, and a bunch of other immature crap. My drummer is currently 16, and he's some sort of prodigy or something. He's my girlfriend's little brother, and we all live together, so we play quite often. No new guitarists have worked out, ever.

I like all of them. We have a lot of fun. This band has been surprisingly free of real conflict - nice, for once.

I am really only close friends with one of them. I like all of them, but I don't really interact with the others outside of the band context. It's a business relationship.

My years in the business also taught me about back-stabbers. I don't really trust anyone, no matter how nice they appear to be.

thats funny. me and my bandmates are the closest buds ever!

we get along soo well and i usually talk to the drummer and guitarist daily on the phone and all we talk about is music and stuff.

We are all best friends and we have a very special bond. I have only been in this band and i think it will always be this way.

My bandmates and I lived together just after college up until some of started getting married. In fact the three of them were in my wedding. We've since disbanded and live all around the country (Nashville, NYC, Durham, and New Jersey) but we still call each other up every once in a while.

We're friendly, but we don't hang out, seldom talk on the phone, and never get together except for rehearsals (no gigs yet). We live too far away from each other. We do email back and forth quite a bit.

After my drummer gave me warts, we've cooled off a little bit.

Some of my best friends actually. My drummer I've known since I was about 7 or so. Guitarist I've known since highschool (we're all in our mid-late 20s).
