I am curious. Especially people who have large rigs or maybe even carry the band pa.
Being a car guy myself, what do you use to transport all of your gear? Compact car, How does it all fit? Huge truck, how much do you have to carry?
Would love to be filled in.
I myself have a 1977 F-250. I only use a full stack but depending on the band usually end up carrying the PA or sometimes other equipment. Luckily lately all I carry is my amp and basses.
PS: Lifted trucks and heavy equipment is indeed a back breaker

| | | I luv my Subaru WRX SportWagon-
It flies with the performance parameters of a Porsche, Beemer, etc at half the cost....
Put the rear seat down and I can easily carry two cabs (4x8 & 115) or my Boogie Buster with a Diesel 15- No problem.
BTW- I own a "mini-rig" (Neo-Pak and Wizzy 12) but also primarily use "full-size" rigs, like a T-E AH-500 & an Ampeg 3-PRO.
They weigh a whopping 25-30 lbs...
Funny, but the majority of my gigs are at street-level clubs and rooms; rarely have to haul gear up flights of stairs!!
So- by putting the "cumbersome" heads ON TOP of the speaker cabs, and rolling them in- What a concept- the WHEEL!
I don't seem to be burdened by weight, like many say they are...

It's a 7 passenger but has tons of room and is super comfy (I swear this was supposed to seat more but the seating arrangement was set up for 7).
We can load in my 6 space rack, Henry the 8x8, two basses, 4 guitars, Peavey 6505+, Peavey XXX, 5 piece drum kit in hard cases, two three space racks, all drum stands, hard cymbol case, two large 412 guitar cabs, all of our merch, A TV w/ PS II (or sometimes XBOX 360) backpacks full of spare cables, extension cords and power strips, a 12 channel mixer, power amp, 2 pa mains, 2 monitors a drum carpet as well as 6 (5 bands members and our road dude) people inside of the van. I'm really good at tetris! We use this set up when playing in state or within three hours drive but have gone as far as five hours like this.
On tour we use the same van but add a 6' x 10' trailer to house all of the gear, tents, grill, food, blankets, pillows and clothing. If we are touring with another band we sometimes throw their equipment in our trailer as well, or we'll do some sort of gear sharing. If it's us taking that brunt we ask for them to help out with gas a bit from their gaurantees. On tour we take 6 (five band members and one road dude).
Yep

My bass/basses fit behind the front seat nice and snug. In the back I can fit a 15 cab, powered monitor, gig bag, mic and guitar stands, and wireless. Sometimes I will take my rack and either put it in the front seat, or stand it up in the back. I also have a 2x10 that fits even better than the 15. This weekend I'll be bringing a bank of lights as well...that should be fun...blahhh...lol |

No problems with space. The biggest single item I have is a 1X18" cabinet which won't fit in most cars. If I don't need to use the full stack, I can use my small car for just about everything else. For rehearsals I use a Fender Rumble 100 combo which fits in the trunk of my little Cavalier coupe, bass case in the back seat, nice and easy.
The van comes in real handy when hauling other band member's gear, or stuffing as much as possible into as few vehicles as possible for more distant gigs.

Sorry I don't have a better photo.
Nothing like an old VW bus with no AC for transporting the band! We manage to fit my 410, GK head, Fender Bassman combo, Fender Blues Deluxe, Fender Hot Rod Deville (or something like that), and a 5 piece drum kit in here, and somehow still fit the 4 band members. Great fun.

Well, it finally got to be time to downsize. My new vehicle: a PT Cruiser. Take out the seats and I can fit the PA (two JBL 2x15's and a 10-space rack case), my amp rig (a 1x15, a 2x12, and a 4-space rack case), two basses and one 4-can light tree. Someone else has to bring the stage monitors! |

It has enough space and it's not huge and annoying.
