I agree and that way no one is offended. I guarantee you if Eric Clapton was looking for a "Bassist" the OP would raise his hand or would he say "Mr Clapton I'm a Bass player so I'll have to turn down this opportunity when you are ready to hire a "bass player" please give me a call"

I had a bass instructor once who schooled me in the difference when I brought in some Smashing Pumpkins songs to learn (I was maybe 13 at the time)..

I'll take being a "bass player" in a Grammy Award wining multi-platinum band any day.
