Cuz they feel like bassists are easily replaceable so they can just boss them around, and if they leave then so what.

Judging by most Guitarists I know, it is just how they are.

And judging from most Bassists I know, it doesn't take much to aggravate them.

Yeah but seriously, the bass guy is here to make him shine.

Next time he plays a tasty solo he took weeks to perfect, I can hit the wrong notes and say "oops, sorry, man, I was still in drop D..."

It does take a lot to aggravate me and I have been dealing with the little jokes, the interruption when I want to say something, and none of my song choices but one making it to the final set list...

The guy can't learn new songs fast enough, when he "learns" them it's usually a mess, but for now the other members (drummer and singer) don't seem to quite notice yet.

I probably notice a bit more as I am the guy in between.

Plus, seriously, 5 to 8 beers (that's what I counted) every practice shows he has a little problem.

Many folks have never played with a true bassist.. there are much many more folks who are guitarist-2 strings.

They just don't respect it.

If he is speaking your language, he's telling you to find a guitarist that suits you better.

Because guitards think they are more important than a bassist. It is usually the other way around...

As for the little jokes, I am French, so you know.

The first surrender joke was unfunny, after that it was seriously aggravating.

Since then I've been making fun of his drinking habit and each time he confessed to screwing a song (at least he admitted to it) I advised him to drink one more beer. Somehow it did not fly well.

Hey, Hey, What Can I Do?

Throwing it back doesn't sound like it's your true bag..

He may just be joking around.. you may just be slightly more serious and may not be flexible to folks.

I am flexible and take a lot more crap.

It's common to be interrupted when you're trying to make a point, everybody is excited and has 100 great ideas.

Not so cool when you're trying to say something and right then the Dual Rectifier starts screaming with random power chords.

I can take a bit of that.

But then if I happen to interrupt him, he's going ballistic, then it's all "I welcome you into my house..." crap.

I've requested that we don't practice at his house from now on, but rather at the drummer's house, which is more centrally located.

That's going to be for a start.

I've got a guitarist and he won't stay true.
I don't what this "His bassist" business is, we as bassists pretty much own the band, whether they know it or not.
Sure, the guitarist may think he's the icing on the cake, but we're the f*cking cake.

LOL. I am the one who said "his bassist" like he is "my guitarist".

I think they are going gaga over the fact they have their first gig on the 30th and they are running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

We'll see who the real men are then.

Oh man, if they are getting all "rock star" on you for their first gig, then they need a serious reality check..

Unless you guys are getting paid immensely.

They are having tons of emails about the set list, and I told them it's about what we can play now first.

Set lists evolve, no need to get all excited.
