The thing I wouldn't perform is something that would have really racist lyrics, me being black and all, but besides, who makes racist music anyway, and why would a band ever want to cover a racist song, if any exist, I've never heard them. Otherwise, I couldn't ever see myself rejecting a song based on the lyrics. |

in that case (although i would play it no matter the lyrics) i could totally see why someone would'nt want to play some songs.
if not, care to post some censored examples?
Edit: ill definitely say some of the lyrics to some death metal band songs are straight up revolting.

I'd like to see some examples of songs you deem unacceptable, and I take part of my previous statement back, cuz if anyone ever asked me to play insane clown posse, or anything from their record company for that matter, I would say no. |

| | | | I was the only non-vegan in a hardcore band and a lot of the songs had a no leather/meat/exploitation of animals theme to them.
I didn't mind. I left/got kicked out after bringing Taco Bell into the van though.

| | | | We won't do anything with Satanic lyrics out of respect for member's beliefs.......and anything with rampant cursing gets tossed too. The few songs that have a curse word, we do the radio edit thing cause none of us like hearing it sung. One part I have fun with cause I pop a high note right in that spot... I think it's more effective anyhow. So yes, there are songs we wouldn't do because of the lyrics.

I think he has the right idea that just because we don't agree with the music that we should prevent others who don't mind from enjoying it |

| | | | I can't really imagine any lyrics that would even come close to offending me. I might say no if its too sappy/cheesy though. |

If you aren't in an original band and set on making a musical statement, why not for the sake of entertainment.
Just because you play Sweet Home Alabama doesn't mean you necessarily even desire to visit the state. |
