Woo-hoo - finally got a good drummer!

Just thought I'd share, after a couple of threads about our adventures in trying to find a drummer, that I think we've finally found a good fit. We've got a fair bit of work to do to get him up to speed (all original material), but he's got 30 years experience and is indeed a heavy hitter with an excellent sense of dynamics and very solid meter. He's also a great guy. Easy going, enjoyable to work with, professional, organized, and very enthusiastic about the band. We may, at last, be on our way...

Many thanks to everyone who provided feedback and encouragement along the way!

Congrats. It's always a relief to know you've found a good fit. How did you find him?

Congrats to you and fyour band. Finding a good drummer is like knowing you're going to have a great parking place every time you leave home.

Thank you. He responded to our ad on Craigslist, interestingly enough. I sent my usual reply with a link to our tunes and got a very enthusiastic email back. Everything fell into place from there. On top of the usual difficulty most of us have when trying to find a good drummer, we had an additional problem. We wanted someone with considerable experience, but the band is still in development. It's all original material and it'll be a couple of months before we're ready to play out. All the pro-level guys want a working band, understandably. And we'd already tried working with someone with less experience in the hope they'd come up to par, but that didn't work out. We really needed someone with the right skills, but who also shared our vision in developing the material and who was interested in becoming a permanent band member. A very tricky fit to find, for sure. To say I'm relieved and grateful would be an understatement!

You know, I almost forgot what it is like to play with people who know there stuff and listen to what is going on. I hooked up with a guitarist and drummer 3 weeks ago and pretty much any song we have tried seems to work - even the songs none of us has played before.

Life is good again.
