I had some help from my former coworker (who was in marketing), but the bulk of it I did myself. Simply put, make it as concise as you can but also interesting. Also, look at making two versions; a long one and a shorter one. |

"Often called a “diamond in the rough”, Al is a Greenville, NC boy whose enthusiasm is so infectious the CDC once issued a bulletin on the subject. An avid adventurer who has hiked the Himalayas, Al’s other hobbies include bull fighting, motor racing, and making paper mache masks.Al has performed with a laundry list of great area bands, playing original music and covers, and definitely adds what the French call “a certain I don’t know what” to the band. "
i'm big on "truth" in advertising.

I hate writing bio's too. Mine sucked and a friend re-wrote it for me. can't be afraid to sell yourself. . . I felt like, w/ ever sentence, someone would call me out on everything (even though it's ALL true and in context) |

A few tips: Keep it to two-three graphs. Include hyperlinks. Share some high points, but don't worry about giving a top-to-bottom rundown of everything you've done in music. Lead with the most recent notable info -- "Garage Smell," Joe Bassplayer's latest CD, has the Tahitian musician creating a combustible mix of funk, rap, bebop and Slavic gospel" -- and then back into the pure-bio stuff. |

At a young age he became enamoured with the politics of John Major, vowing to succeed him in office. After exile in Florida and Zurich following a failed coup against Tony Blair's New Labour, he saw his oppurtunity to grab power following the disarray left after the World Cup Riots of 2010. Moving the capital from London to Shrewsbury and assuming full "Ultimate Overlord With Strangely Sexy Hair For Life" his reign of terror and corruption began. The following years saw the changing of the national anthem to "Heavy Metal Thunder", the conversion of the Church of England into the Church of Steve Harris, and senior government posts being filled entirely by Alan Shearer.

My bio is mostly made up and fictional, but it's truer than alot of bios I've seen. As long as you're telling the truth, it's OK to brag in the service of selling yourself. |
