Your drummer and you...

I play with two drummers and have a very special relationship with them both. I am tight tight tight close with both of them.

I went on one's honeymoon with he and his wife is how close we are.

Looking back, former drummers make up a disproportionate number of old friends who I keep up with or am genuinely friends with. It's clear that, in my world, rhythm is the tie that binds. I can also recall seeing former drummers for the first time in years and not missing a step. No awkward re-acquaintance.

In fact in all my rock I can only recall one drummer who I didn't genuinely adore and form a lasting bond with, and by his own admission he was "really a guitar player."

Anyone else like me?

Dude... I know exactly what you're saying. Bonding with drummers is amazing. Until they go psycho on you.

My drummer is my bro that's two minutes older than me... so we get a pretty tight groove goin on. My other brother that was born in between us is our guitar player.

I get along better with guitarists. Drummers tend to piss me off.

Always seems like no matter who I am playing with, I form the strongest relationship with the drummer. My current project does multiple style practice sessions, one of which is just bass and drums to click. It has helped both of us become much more in sync with each other.

I always form a bond with my drummers (except for the couple times I had drummers that were not so nice people).
It helps that I'm also a drummer, so we can talk shop as well!

I've been in so many bands it's ridiculous, and looking back, the only ones that succeeded were the ones in which the drummer and I were best buds. My best friend now is a drummer and a damn good one at that and we gig almost every night of the week....so I feel you

my drummer and i are in several bands together. we are a fairly well known rhythm section. we play great together. we click and know what each other is bout to do. however, personally, we really dont get along too well. we go through bouts but there is a mutual respect between us. rehearsals and gigs are about it for us.

I guess do to my easy going personality (before I get mad ), I got along prety good with all the musicians I've worked with. But to tell the truth, the drummer has always been the guy I fussed at. Because I keep my ear at his beat all the time and a change in the beat or anything that isn't going right pushes me to fill in that mistake.. The guitard guys have always had their high ego of being heard and standing upfront and again being heard on top of every instrument. Those happen to be the ones who you have a hard time to convince in the term called musical MIX!!

In my actual band the guitard player is Joe Dalton, the drummer is Avarel Dalton, and I'm poor William who has to grab Joe off Avarel for any stupid reason..

My feelings exactly. I've had very few problems with guitarists through the years, but have had many, many problems with drummers.

Did you do that because his ever increasing speed when knocking rapdily was pissing you off?

I've usually gotten along with everyone in the bands that I've been in. At worst, the drummer and I have had a good working relationship. At best, we were buddies.
