the type of musicians that I clashed with the most has been drummers. a lot of drummers just want to overplay and add their own touch. I hate that ****. Just keep it simple and keep time. Not to mention most drummers I know are just crazy |

Any single one person, regardless of what instrument they play, can ruin a band. Projects that I've been involved with that have been wrecked by people with crappy personalities have run the gamut from singers to drummers to a keyboard player. An idiot bass player can ruin a band.

showing up late for gigs, not rehearsing, not helping with equipment,
"the band is nothing without me" ect... |

I knew of one once who was in a small local cover band that was pretty good and I old him so at a set break. He said "yeah we hope by this time next year we will be playing stadium shows'' and he was serious!

| | | Whoa now! This poll is extremely flawed from the outset. It's titled "what type of musician"...
...yet you have vocalist as a choice.

| | Yeah, I've got the moves like Jagger. | | Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: G.R. MI | | | I had to go with the singer/song writer/douche bag. I've worked with more egomaniac guitar players than anything else, and singers are a close second as far as numbers go, but the biggest douchebag of them all eclipses all other egotists combined.
I guess I should have had a clue when I joined a band that was named after the douchebag in question.

My bf was in a moderately successful cover band for several years. All members were very seasoned and talented musicians. But not all of them were exactly what you'd call mature on an emotional level. One evening, during the final set of the night, the singer/band leader called out a tune and the keyboardist groaned, rolled his eyes, and started shaking his head in disgust. The singer threw a hissy fit, swore at the keyboardist and left the stage mid-set. At a previous gig with their former guitarist, said guitarist started playing the wrong song at one point, forcing the band to stop. Very embarrassing. The singer handled it well, though, cracking jokes to the audience about how they're just starting out, etc. Everyone, including the rest of the band, had a good laugh and it was no big deal. But the guitarist took great offense at everyone laughing at him and basically sulked through the rest of the show. At the end of the night, he got into a yelling match with the singer as they were packing up, which ended with the guitarist flipping the bird to the rest of the guys, tellng them all to **** themselves and storming out while everyone in the packed bar looked on in amazement. The guys in question were in their 50s at the time. |

They always think they can fit in in any song, and never shut up.

Usually, the keyboards and the horns are on one side of the stage while the guitar and bass are on the other side and the singer and drummer are in the middle. In other words, you have the people who play too much on one side , the ones who play too loud on the other side , and the ones who don't know anything about music in the middle. |
