Your most annoying quality as a bandmate

Sign in to disble this ad
Fess up to what your worst, most annoying quality is. And don't say "I work too hard" or "my standards are really high". Those are copouts.

Mine's always trying to get singers to sing in languages they don't speak. Spanish, Portuguese, Yoruba, Luganda... the worst case is after talking a singer who doesn't speak Spanish into doing "Moliendo cafe" I discovered that it was also a big hit in Japan and Indonesia with translated lyrics (as "Coffee Rumba" and "Kopi Dangdut", respectively), so since the song is kinda short I couldn't resist asking her if she wants to do those versions as well, instead of singing the whole thing in Spanish twice.

She said no. So yesterday I asked another singer from another band who speaks a little Spanish if she wants to do all three versions. Of course. Oh, and also asked her about a Sonor song which is in Mongolian, but at least I was joking about that one.

I think you should ask our bandmates, not us!

I am a setlist analyzer... I play in a cover band..i only think we should play popular songs, makes the badguy when any of the other members wants to add the favorite off the wall song. I am not sure I am really a fan of most of the music I play, doesn't mean I don't enjoy playing it if it gets the crowd going and gets us paid.

My worst quality is my nicotine addiction, calling for unneccesary breaks.

This is more a bad quality on their behalf but w/e they always have the guitars too loud, and my 150w amp can't go as loud as it should. So you cant hear the bass unless you are standing in direct line of the amp. which means our metallica covers etc come out bad because the epic Cliff Burton parts can't be heard. sucks man.

My problem is that I'm very far from a note-for-note player. I think a band should be able to put its own stamp on the tunes as long as the song remains recognizable.

This led to a couple of disagreements with my old guitarist but we'd always laugh it off after a few beers.

I’m the volume nazi, only annoying to the guitarist.

I'm very critical of things. This has been both a good thing and a very bad thing depending on the band in question.

My worst quality is being anti social sometimes.
On breaks I sometimes slip out to my car and enjoy silence
rather than working the room. My ears need a break.

I hate it when our guitar player plays crap cords with random rhythm when our cover songs have great guitar parts. Its like at times a cowboy C is used just because its a C cord. 7 cords are ignored.

I bitch about it and sometimes it stresses the system. He solos really well at times but really lets the rhythm stuff go.

I tend to be a bit of a slave driver at practices and shows. I have a family and responsibilities, I want to get in there, do what we need to do, and go home. I enjoy practice and playing gigs, but I don't have time to stand around and BS. I've been out of town for the last few weeks, and I think practice has been mostly goofing around with only a little actual music.
