It was so much easier being a bass player when there were no distractions....apart from the drink...drugs....sex......

As I just read your post Paul, I had actually pulled my DB into my room with my computer so I could practice some Ron Carter lessons from bassplayer.com before I have to leave for work in 40 minutes . I'm giving Baldur's Gate a bit of a rest, I don't have much spare time between now and jazz camp (working every day for 6 and 8 hour shifts until camp starts!) so I want to spend it with my bass(es.) Might even get some slab practice in tonight after I get home!

As Father Torkelson used to say;

"Are you sorry for your sins? (yes)....alright then, play three "Joy Springs", and I'll see you next Sunday". (thank you, Father).

Good news, guys! My playing's coming along. I'm walkin' all over the blues and ii-V-I's, and I'm starting to get into analysis (and playing) of more harmonically sophisticated tunes (Gloria's Step, 'Round Midnight, Giant Steps.) Thumb position's coming in tune and my soloing is starting to sound credible. I hope to get some playing samples up soon .
