Anyone ever tried Portrait of Tracey on an Upright?

It's THE electric bass standard, has anyone ever given it a shot in upright? I managed to work out the intro and melody up until the false harmonic, which I've never practiced on an upright before. Seems like it'd be damn near impossible to perfrom the whole song. Anyone ever heard it or know of recordings? I bet with the right bowing technique it would sound wonderful.

Bromberg's isa very unique arrangement of the piece. Unless you've gothands the size of Ron Carter's or John Clayton's, it would probably be quite impossible to play in its original incarnation on a 3/4+ sized DB.

That said, there ARE transcriptions around with the melody and changes, so it'd be quite conceivable to play in a duet or small group setting. Just imagine thatin a trio setting -- it'd sound great, eh? Hmm. Just might have to try that. Man, that'd be neat.
