Bach Cello suites

Hi I've just stumbled across these recordings of Bach's cello suites on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWxvEi48YWQ

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any recordings of the cello suites on the double bass which have released on CD.
Thanks in adavance.

As far as recordings on bass go, Edgar's CD is probably a good start. Whether or not you think that is how they should be played, they are amazing examples of musicianship. His CD only has suites 1, 2, and 5 though. Bernat has recordings of the complete suites, but I wouldn't recommend them. I have also heard a rumor that DaXun is releasing a CD of Bach pretty soon, so I'd also look out for that. I'm sure there are others, but those are the only studio recordings that I can think of off the top of my head.

Have you heard the recording of Ben Jensen doing the Courante and the Guige from Suite No. 6? http://doublebassblog.org/?s=ben+Jensen

Bach Suites

H i- gary Karr has a CD of at least 3 of the suites. Try at Lemur or ISB site?

He plays 3 of the suites every Sunday as part of his practising.

Karr has recorded all 6 suites, but I honestly can't recommend those recordings.

Why not? I have both recordings and like them very much - so: I recommend them.

Electric Cello?

Just want to jump in here and run something by you guys:
I recently purchased the sheet music to Bach's 6 Unaccompanied Cello Suites from Dover publications. A cello is strung C-G-D-A so I was thinking about buying a set of strings for a 6 string bass and only using the 4 of the C-G-D-A-E-B. Would this work? Has anyone else here tried this? The fingering is, dare I say, impossible on a standard bass. Let me here from my fellow Bach listeners.

I'm not a particular fan of those recordings, but that's my own opinion.
