if this existed, it'd probably be in my top ten too! I think you mean Kenny Werner....
I'll put a more serious reply when I've more time to think it through

And not one cent more. I like Radiohead, but not this one so much. |

No Age--Weirdo Rippers
Battles--Mirrored (indie rock finally gets to prog rock)
Honorable mention: LCD Soundsystem--Sound of Silver
As for jazz...I'm so far behind on the stuff I spend all my time playing that I'm still trying to figure out what the best records of 2004 were. I keep getting sucked back into the Blue Note catalog of 1960-1967 and I can't escape..."Pilgrimage" and the new Scott Colley disc are not to be missed, though. (Why don't more people talk about Ralph Alessi?!?)

olie | Yeah...Werner...I realized I made this mistake when I was on the road to my brother's. Finally got back and will edit it. But still, nice record... |

Amen on that, though I seem to keep lingering on later 'Trane stuff as well as Tim Berne's JMT sides.
As for Ralph, I'm lucky enough to have him in one or two of my groups and I often ask the same question. He's doing a Europe tour with Ravi this year, so let's hope that gets him a little more notice. BTW, Ralph's record Look, which came out last year, is certainly worth a listen.
Also, I see you're playing at Tea Lounge tomorrow night (that is you, right?). I've got a gig and a cold, but if I'm not feeling like death, I'll drop by to say hello.

KJT | That was going to be me, but then the sh!t that this thread is about hit the fan. I think Dan Loomis is covering it, and it may be some interesting stuff.
Please say "hi" to Ralph for me. I don't know if he'll remember me, but I did some volunteer work for him and Jay Granelli and the School for Improvisational Music a couple of years back.

I will say hey to Ralph for sure. Good bet that he'll remember you; he's got a steel trap of a mind for things like that.
Speedy recovery,

| | An ounce of perception, a pound of obscure. | | Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Denver | | | On the other side of the coin, the new Patitucci CD has not grown on me. I like the two or three upbeat tunes, and there is one song called "Folklore" that has a really interesting turn in the melody. But like the last 3 or 4 Patitucci CDs, this one has a little too much experimental, meditative stuff to keep my interest. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
