Bottesini: Music for Double Bass and Piano Vol. 2 (Joel Quarrington)

I have to say I enjoyed listening to this very much.

The 3rd Grand duo with Hal Robinson was amazing, this Bottesini reminded me of Vivaldi.

The Concerto No. 2 was amazing, but I don't think I am impressed with this piece as I could have been. Very heroic though, probably would seem more heroic in person.

Everything else was just breath taking... I really enjoyed this album.

What are your thoughts.

I have been waiting on this album for a while. I think you are correct, it is breathtaking. While I was not blown away by his version of the concerto the first time I listened, listening several more times has changed my mind completely. I can't get enough now. I've listened straight through while writing papers about five times now. I highly reccomend this album.

I just got the cd. It's definitely fantastic, as was volume 1. I'd highly recommend both volumes. Being on the Naxos label, they're quite inexpensive.

Now, if only they won't wait another decade for volume 3...

The duo was incredible. There are better versions of the concerto.

Man, I can't wait to purchase this CD. Quarrington has the best bow technique of anyone I have ever heard, at least to me. (Barbe, Barker, Levinson, Morton, Meyer, Bradetich, Rotaru, Jelinek, better than them all). His Virtuoso Reality CD was absolutely amazing (though it's gone virtually unnoticed). His performance at the ISB this past summer was the best playing I have ever heard!
