Posted our version of the Hank Williams classic "You Win Again" or as the leader puts it "Imagine if Hank Williams walked into a south side Baptist church".

We had a pretty wild bunch sitting in the front so most of the tunes are pretty funky and they went wild for the Hank Williams tune.

4.23, Adamantium, Good Riddance, and Take Care Of Yourself are all originals by the leader.

Bonnie is one of my favorite ballads of all time. Written by Tommy Turrentine.

I ended up giving my AI/EA rig w/mic and Realist one last try. Mostly mic with some Realist for hrmpf. Lemme know what you think of the tone.

I listened to 4.23, and liked the vibe quite a bit. I meant to listen to it again on some nice phones before commenting, but I thought I'd give the thread a bump. I love the use of space in this arrangement, and the way it forces everyone involved - horn players, rhythm section, and listeners - to rely on their internal sense of time. It kind of draws you in that way. I'll make tone comments after checking the clip out on the phones. The one comment about the playing/arrangement I had I may eat after listening more closely, but there are several places where the sax comes in on the "&" of 4 and the rhythm section comes in on 1. I remember thinking that it would have been nice if everyone had made the entrances together, but without any "setup" from anyone, just cold, emphasizing the space. Other than that very little minor nitpick, I really enjoyed the tune. More later.
