I've been trying to find a way to convert RAM or RM files to mp3 or MPEG files for a long time and I just can't seem to find a way that works.

If anyone has any methods they have for conversion I'd like to hear it too because not being able to convert these real files has been a real pain.

I'll tell you what I do know though:

The file itself, if you try to download it, will be an RAM file which is just a text file telling realPlayer where to stream from. You have to get to the source of the actual file and download the RM file. Then there is a way to convert RM files to normal media files but all the converters I have tried have just failed me over and over.

I tried to download the file and it just got me the file that just starts streaming again,

Converting the actual file is not a problem, because i use a mac, and you can just click on the file, and when you highlight the name of the file .. lets say Bass solo.rm.. you can just delete the RM part and type in MPEG or MP4 and a message would appear telling you are you sure you would like to convert the file. and you just press yes and the file converts :P
Im having trouble finding the actual file.

Hi,
I was able to grab it using a stream recorder. I dont have a place to post it and it is too large to email - so if you know of how I could send it to you, let me know and I will do so!

That's not true about the file renaming/converting in OS X. Renaming a files suffix does not convert that file from, say a windows media file to an mpeg file just by virtue of changing it's name to .mpg. OS X doesn't have the inbuilt facility to convert files in that way. If you pay more attention, will will note that OS X asks if you want to use the new suffix, and will inform you that the file will then likely open up in a new app. Try changing a .ram file to .mpg by renaming it, this will force an icon change to a Quicktime file, now try and open it, Quicktime won't recognise it.
