Here's good ol' Bertram doing some modern works. Aprox. 1.5 hours long!

"Uncle Bert" is a really nice guy. He knows his stuff, is very open minded and has spent his whole life giving to the Contrabass. I am so glad he is getting more stuff out there for us to see and hear.

Hey "jazzdog", maybe after you have expanded the repertoire for your instrument by 300 + pieces written by composers just for you, taught students as great as Ken Filano, Dresser and Bob Magnussen as well as written a book about most of the possible sounds of the double bass and how to notate them, maybe then you will actually have something to say yourself.
Until then stick to your "casuals".

Watch yo' mouth, jazzdogg!

I have studied with Bert in the summers of 2000, 2001 and 2005, and I can confirm that the man is nothing short of amazing. A true living legend who deserves our utmost respect.

You are not going to find a more generous and great man than Bert.
We can add Marco to to the long list of great players he taught.

Finnally about the clip: Some great Pieces. I'd still have liked to hear some of his own solo works like "Segovia" or something.
He sounds great, talks a lot but like I said he has something to say.

Snakewood,

Hey, thanks for posting this. As soon as I have an hour and a half.

I had the opportunity to study with "Uncle Bert" this summer at a workshop and he is absolutely amazing and very generous. He also did a live concert and used bass and spoken word in his original compositions and conducted our bass choir with some of his original compositions.

Looking forward to hearing this!

I got a chance to see Bert play live for the first time last year here in Ventura. Great fun, especially when he plays his own works.
I have to say I was disappointed with the Piazolla piece (Contrabajisimo) in the video. I've been curious about it for some time and it's not worth the effort to get that many people together. IMHO.
