Thumbs up Genre Jumpers.....

Ha! Great, man.
I call people who play this good "Genre Jumpers". There ain't a bunch, but they ARE out there. You can't label them.....this is no more "Country" or "Western" than calling Edgar Meyer a "Classical" bassist. In fact, I can hear Edgar bowing those lead lines.
Just great music played by people who care.

Check out the bass players bent end-pin in the first clip.....Ala Rabbath.

Side bar....I was working some shows in Vegas years ago. A band with similar talent and outfits followed us. I had that "Holier than thou" jazz attitude in those days. I thought "How sad. These poor guys have to come on stage and be embarrassed after our hip ****." Needles to say, we were the ones embarrassed.

Oh yeah.....I'll watch these when I go home and get to a computer with sound.

I had the pleasure of doing a lot of gigs in Oklahoma with the late western swing great Benny Garcia (lead guitar for Bob Wills Texas Playboys).....even at the end where his mind was going and he would ask me about who made my bass 4 times an hour he could still make changes on bebop and standards as good as anyone around.

Those cats used to go do their western swing gigs and go hang out in Deep Deuce and play jazz with everyone from Charlie Christian, Count Basie, etc.
