Thanks

Paul,

I just picked up "I Concentrate on You" with Lee Konitz and Red Mitchell off of iTunes. I want to thank you for really turning me on to Red's Material. I have been a casual enjoyer for a while now (I dig 5ths), but as a classical player what Mr. Mitchell does in duo settings is just an eye-opening experience.

Thanks again,

Alex

Thumbs up

If you pull the player slider in the right hand upper corner down to the bottom to "You'd be so nice" it's a clip of Red playing 4ths tuned jazz cello with Jim, Frank Strazzeri, Jimmy Bond and Frank Butler. Filthy in tune jazz cello for a change.
Also under videos, Red's performance at the ISB in Germany is fabulous.

I had the distinct good fortune of working with Jim here in Denver for a week in about 1967 in a trio setting. He was easy to play with and personally very warm and humorous.
Glad you all are enjoying this thread, thanks.

That is one of the best jazz albums of all time, IMO.

Yeah, that's the most thoughtful Joe Pass i've ever heard on record. The exchange with Red at the end is much more musical than, IMO, i've heard from Joe. Love when Red grabs Joe's lick and plays it back to him in living time.
